Sunday, 17th February

5:00 p.m.
Same procedure as every year

Sweden won the World Team Championship in Threecushion Billiards in Viersen, Germany, for a fourth time in a row and for the eighth time overall. In the final versus the Netherlands the Scandinavians were the deserved winners, but with a little bit of good luck. It was a close match, where the advantage sometimes was with the Dutch and sometimes with the Swedes. When Torbjörn Blomdahl won the decisive fifth set versus Dick Jaspers in only four innings everybody was waiting for Michael Nilsson, who was in the lead in set four at this time, to clinch victory. But Raymond Burgman managed to come back, winning this fourth set. It was time again to count cannons for the aggregate score. The result was that six points for Nilsson would be enough for the Swedes to be uncatchable in front. Nilsson made his sixth point in his third visit at the table; Sweden was World Champion again

2:00 p.m.

They were struggling but they don't fall.
Corea put titleholder Sweden at the edge of a lost match. First it was Sung Won Choi, who had the final qualification in his hands. Leading 2-0 in sets he missed three setballs. Because of Kim Kyung Roul already won one set his was the Ticket to finale. But Michael Nilsson kept his nerves and made his third setball. The whole match was opened again. Kim Kyung Roul won the set no. 3 and came to a matchball in set no.4. If he made this matchball, Sweden was knocked out, but Blomdahl made it.
Sung Won Choi took a break in the forth set and won the decisional set with 15:3. He egalised the total point sum, because Blomdahl had won the first set by 15:2 in only one inning. The Corean Kim Kyung Roul could lose by 14-15 to win the whole match. The luckier team Sweden arrived in finale versus Netherlands, because Blomdahl won teh fifth set by 15-11.

1:45 p.m.

Dutch players Dick Jaspers and Raymond Burgman won by 5-4 in semi final versus Spain. Netherlands seemed to be winner when Jaspers leaded by 2-0 in sets. But then Daniel Sanchez made point after point and set after set to win 3-2. Burgman only lost the first set versus Ricardo Garcia, but he got the sets 2, 3 and 4, so the set ballance was positive for the Dutch.

11:30 a.m.

Torbjörn Blomdahl started his semi final versus Kim Kyung Roul with a serie of 15 points, which was shown in Viersen only three times in the last 10 years. Who can stop these Swedish team???
